From Soul and Funk To Afro-Tropical Grooves.
Es geht los mit einigen neuen Soul 45s und Künstlern von denen in nächster Zeit noch weitere interessante Veröffentlichungen zu erwarten sind. Holy Hives, Dough Shorts, Synthia und The Everettes sind Namen die man sich auf jeden Fall merken sollte. Außerdem sind ein paar schöne Reissues dabei und ein neues Album der New Mastersounds, deren Sound durch den Sänger Lamar Williams trefflich ergänzt wird.
Das Album der Woche kommt vom Soul Jazz Orchestra. Die Kanadier werden mit jedem Album besser und Chaos Theories glänzt mit einer grandiosen stilistischen Vielfalt, einer Bandbreite die von Afrobeat über Latin bis hin zu karibischen Sounds reicht und die zu einem homogenen Band-Sound verschmolzen ist. Klasse!
In diesem Stil geht es dann auch weiter, mit einem Album von Ebo Taylor, das er 1980 aufgenommen hat und erst vor kurzem in Nigeria wiederentdeckt wurde. Nun konnte es erstmals veröffentlicht werden.
Madagaskar ist eine Insel im Indischen Ozean und das Label Stut setzt seine Compilation-Reihe mit Sounds des indischen Ozeans fort und featured Musik, die in Madagaskar zwischen 1974 und 1984 entstand. Eine hochinteressante und spannende Compilation! Viel Spaß beim anhören!
