A Global Grooves Adventure.
Es geht mit einer Runde Latin Soul und Boogaloo los und dann richtet sich der Fokus auf die Compilation „Hit The Bongo! The Latin Soul Of Tico Records“. Die bietet einen sehr guten Überblick über die großartige Musik, welche auf Tico Records vor allem in den 60er Jahren erschienen ist. Legendäre Künstler wie Tito Puente, Joe Cuba, Ray Baretto und La Lupe haben einst auf dem Label veröffentlicht.
Danach geht es in den Norden Brasiliens zu Ary Lobo. Das Label Analog Africa hat eine sehr schöne Compilation mit seiner außergewöhnlichen Musik veröffentlicht, die in den Jahren 1958 bis 1966 entstanden ist. Danach bleiben wir noch in Brasilien, legen aber den Timewarp in die 80er Jahre ein und treffen auf Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti, von denen posthum die EP „Deja Vu“ mit fünf bislang unveröffentlichten Songs erschienen ist. Die beiden Musiker hatten die Songs in den Jahren 1982 bis 1986 aufgenommen.
Anschließend geht es weiter ins Jahr 2023, wo Ana Frango Eletrico aktuell ihr neues Album „Me Chama De Gato Que Eu Sou Sua“ veröffentlicht hat. Moderner Brasil-Soul, toll arrangiert und lässig groovend. Ein sehr interessantes und absolut überzeugendes Album. Anschließend gibt es neues von El Gato Negro, von seinem im Januar 2024 erscheinenden neuen Album das von Guts in Senegal produziert wurde. Da passt auch David Walters ganz gut dazu, er hat gerade einige der Songs seines aktuellen Albums „Soul Tropical“ remixen lassen und hat auch selbst einen Remix angefertigt. Fünf dieser Remixe wurden nun in einer digitalen Deluxe-Version des Albums veröffentlicht. Zwei dieser sehr gelungenen Remixe gibt es hier zu hören.
Zum Netzwerk des Produzenten Guts gehört auch Izem, ein Produzent und Musiker der in Lissabon lebt und eigentlich auch ständig auf Reisen ist. Sein neues Album „In Ze Early Morning“ habe ich mit großer Spannung erwartet. Schon sein Debüt „Hafa“ das 2016 erschienen ist hat mir ausgesprochen gut gefallen. Sein neues Album hat Izem in Lissabon, Paris, Montpellier, Rio De Janeiro und Bogota aufgenommen. So vielfältig und unterschiedlich wie die Aufnahmeorte sind auch die musikalischen Einflüsse die er verarbeitet hat. Das Album finde ich wieder ziemlich spannend, sehr abwechslungsreich und absolut gelungen. Es ist meine Platte der Woche!
Das Label Batov Records bringt seit einiger Zeit sehr vielfältige und interessante Musik heraus, die den Fokus auch auf Klänge das mittleren Ostens hat. Nun hat das Label zum Jahresende eine digitale Compilation veröffenztlicht, welche die Veröffentlichungen dieses Jahres Revue passieren lässt: „Batov Records Artists 3“ und da ist sehr viel interessante Musik zu hören. Die Compilation gibt es auf der Bandcamp-Seite des Labels zu kleinen Preis.
Zum Schluss kommen dann Boozoo Bajou mit ihrem neuen Album „Finistere“. Wieder einmal eine sehr entspannte und auch wunderschöne Platte. Viel Spaß beim Anhören!

A Global Grooves Adventure.
It starts with a round of Latin soul and boogaloo and then the focus turns to the compilation „Hit The Bongo! The Latin Soul Of Tico Records“. It offers a very good overview of the great music that was released on Tico Records, especially in the 60s. Legendary artists such as Tito Puente, Joe Cuba, Ray Baretto and La Lupe once released on the label.
Then it’s off to the north of Brazil to Ary Lobo. The Analog Africa label has released a very nice compilation of his extraordinary music, which was created between 1958 and 1966. After that, we stay in Brazil, but timewarp back to the 80s and meet Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti, who have posthumously released the EP „Deja Vu“ with five previously unreleased songs. The two musicians recorded the songs between 1982 and 1986.
We then move on to the year 2023, where Ana Frango Eletrico has just released her new album „Me Chama De Gato Que Eu Sou Sua“. Modern Brazilian soul, superbly arranged and casually grooving. A very interesting and absolutely convincing album. Then there’s something new from El Gato Negro, from his new album to be released in January 2024, which was produced by Guts in Senegal. David Walters also fits in very well, he has just had some of the songs from his current album „Soul Tropical“ remixed and has also made a remix himself. Five of these remixes have now been released in a digital deluxe version of the album. Two of these very successful remixes can be heard here.
The network of producer Guts also includes Izem, a producer and musician who lives in Lisbon and is actually constantly on the road. His new album „In Ze Early Morning“ has been eagerly awaited. I already really liked his debut „Hafa“, which was released in 2016. Izem recorded his new album in Lisbon, Paris, Montpellier, Rio De Janeiro and Bogota. The musical influences he has incorporated are as varied and diverse as the recording locations. Once again, I find the album quite exciting, very varied and absolutely successful. It’s my record of the week!
The Batov Records label has been releasing very diverse and interesting music for some time now, with a focus on the sounds of the Middle East. Now the label has released a digital compilation at the end of the year, which reviews the releases of this year: „Batov Records Artists 3“ and there is a lot of interesting music to be heard. The compilation is available on the label’s Bandcamp page for a small price.
Finally comes Boozoo Bajou with their new album „Finistere“. Once again a very relaxed and beautiful record. Have fun listening to it!
