In a soulful Sunday mood …
Willkommen zu einem entspannten Sonntags-Mix mit aktuellen Soul, Funk und Downbeat Grooves. Es gibt dieses Mal nur zwei neue Alben, aber dafür einige sehr interessante Single Veröffentlichungen, die neue und vielversprechende Alben ankündigen. So starten wir gleich mit den Principles Of Joy und einer großartigen Version des Sharon Jones Klassikers „Your Thing Is A Drag“ mit der sie das im März erscheinende Album “ It’s Soul That Counts“ ankündigen. Auf dieses Album freue ich mich schon ganz besonders.
Das Debütalbum „Soul Clap“ von Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers ist gerade ganz frisch erschienen. Die Band präsentiert eine ausgewogene Fusion aus Retro-Soul/Funk und modernen Grooves, was eine perfekte Begleitung für die von Sharon Jones und Tina Turner inspirierte Sängerin Bella Brown ist.
Bei der zweiten Album-Präsentation in dieser Sendung geht es dann wesentlich entspannter zu. Das Schweizer Trio Löwenzahnhonig hat sich nicht nur einen außergewöhnlichen Bandnamen einfallen lassen, auch die Musik der Band ist einzigartig. Obwohl man sich durchaus an Khruangbin erinnert fühlen darf, entwickelt die rein instrumentale Musik des Trios einen ganz besonderen Charme. Folk, kombiniert mit Soul und einem coolen Jazz-Vibe und das Ganze ist sehr entspannt groovend. Insbesondere der Song „Möwe“ ist unfassbar schön. Nicht nur der Songtitel, auch musikalisch ist dies eine Referenz auf den Fleetwood Mac Klassiker „Albatross“. Definitiv ein empfehlenswertes Album!
Da passt auch der Blue-Eyed Soul von Pale Jay hervorragend dazu. Auch er ist unter anderem von Khruangbin inspiriert, kombiniert dies aber mit Einflüssen von Donny Hathaway und J Dilla. Seine Debüt-EP „The Celestial Suite“ ist im Oktober 2021 erschienen und fand zu recht viel Beachtung.

In a soulful Sunday mood …
Welcome to a relaxed Sunday mix with the latest soul, funk and downbeat grooves.
There are only two new albums this time, but some very interesting single releases announcing new and promising albums. So we start with the Principles Of Joy and a great version of the Sharon Jones classic „Your Thing Is A Drag“ with which they announce the album „It’s Soul That Counts“, which will be released in March. I’m really looking forward to this album.
The debut album „Soul Clap“ by Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers has just been released. The band presents a balanced fusion of retro soul/funk and modern grooves, which is the perfect accompaniment for the Sharon Jones and Tina Turner-inspired singer Bella Brown.
The second album presentation in this show is much more relaxed. The Swiss trio Löwenzahnhonig have not only come up with an unusual band name, their music is also unique. Although you may well be reminded of Khruangbin, the trio’s purely instrumental music develops a very special charm. Folk, combined with soul and a cool jazz vibe and the whole thing is very relaxed and groovy. The song „Möwe“ in particular is incredibly beautiful. Not only the song title, but also musically this is a reference to the Fleetwood Mac classic „Albatross“. Definitely an album worth recommending!
