Eine kleine Runde mit groovenden Jazz-Klassikern ist der passende Start für diese Soul Unlimited Ausgabe. Mit dabei sind auch Airto Moreira und Flora Purim, deren Lebenswerk kürzlich mit der ausgezeichneten, bei Barely Breaking Even (BBE) veröffentlichten, Compilation „A Celebration: 60 Years Sounds, Dreams & Other Stories“ gebührend gewürdigt wurde.
Larry Mizell hat zusammen seinem Bruder Fonce das Sky High Produktionsteam gegründet. In den 1970er Jahren haben sie eine beachtliche Reihe herausragender Alben produziert. Ihre Produktionen sind inzwischen legendär und bestechen mit ihrem einzigartigen Sound. Die Mizell Brüder waren jedoch nicht nur als Produzenten aktiv, denn sie brachten sich auch als Songschreiber und Musiker ein. Am 17. Februar feierte Larry Mizell seinen 80. Geburtstag, aus diesem Grund gibt es ein ausführliches Feature seiner Arbeit und ein Mixset mit ausgesuchten Stücken, die er mit seinem Bruder produziert hat.
Anschließend geht es mit spannenden aktuellen Veröffentlichungen von Audrey Powne, Alina Bzhezhinska & Toni Kofi, Sun Ark, Nils Wogram’s Root 70 und Susanne Alt weiter.

A short round of grooving jazz classics is a fitting start to this Soul Unlimited episode. Also included are Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, whose life’s work was recently honored with the excellent compilation „A Celebration: 60 Years Sounds, Dreams & Other Stories“, released by Barely Breaking Even (BBE).
Larry Mizell founded the Sky High production team together with his brother Fonce. They produced a remarkable series of outstanding albums in the 1970s. Their productions are now legendary and captivate with their unique sound. However, the Mizell brothers were not only active as producers, as they also contributed as songwriters and musicians. On February 17, Larry Mizell celebrated his 80th birthday, which is why there is an extensive feature of his work and a mix set with selected tracks that he produced with his brother.
This is followed by exciting new releases from Audrey Powne, Alina Bzhezhinska & Toni Kofi, Sun Ark, Nils Wogram’s Root 70 and Susanne Alt.
