In dieser Episode steht wieder der Soul im Mittelpunkt. Es geht mit einer Runde Southern Soul los, Songs die beim Label Soul 4 Real erstmalig auf Vinyl veröffentlicht wurden. Das neuste Release von Geater Davis ist ein echtes Highlight!
Das erste neue Album, das ich vorstellen möchte, ist „Reasons To Stay“ von Tanika Charles. Es ist bereits das vierte Album der Kanadierin und zugleich ihr persönlichstes. Die Songs klingen wie sehr persönliche Briefe an ihre Familie, sich selbst und auch an ihre Zuhörer. Ein sehr bewegendes Album, so muss Soul sein!
Die Principles Of Joy aus Paris haben sich in den letzten Jahren zu einer festen Größe in der europäischen Soul-Szene entwickelt. Dies haben sie nicht zuletzt auch ihren dynamischen Live-Konzerten zu verdanken. Nun haben sie mit Publikum im Studio CVXII in Paris ein Live-Album eingespielt, das diese Magie perfekt eingefangen hat. Es ist ein sehr gutes Album geworden, das ich euch ans Herz legen möchte!
Das Label We Want Sounds ist wieder mit einer spannenden Wiederveröffentlichung am Start: Das 1983 aufgenommene Album „Body Pressure“ von der Band Sho-Nuff aus Mississippi wurde damals nur in Japan veröffentlicht und ist inzwischen eine gesuchte Rarität. Das Album glänzt mit erstklassigem Boogie-Funk Sound und es ist definitiv empfehlenswert!
Auf die Vinyl-Ausgabe von Reuben Vaun Smiths neuem Album „Land Of Music“ mussten seine Fans wieder einige Monate warten. Nun ist es endlich soweit und es wird hier nochmals mit zwei weiteren exzellenten Songs vorgestellt.
Danach begeben wir uns mit Jimi Tenor auf eine kosmische, mit Synthesizern durchdrungene Reise, die zudem ziemlich funky und auch soulful ist. Sein zweites Album das er mit der Timmion Records Hausband Cold Diamond & Mink aufgenommen hat, ist im Vergleich zum ersten noch etwas rauer und mystischer. Ein großartiges Album, das genau das richtige ist, um den Frühling entspannt zu genießen. Das Album der Woche!
Anschließend werden die Soul-Sounds zum einen mit psychedelischen Sounds aus dem Nahen Osten oder auch karibischen Klängen angereichert. Ein weiteres Highlight ist die „Tigre Bonus EP“ von El Gato Negro, der mit „Le Tigre Qui Pleure“ eins meiner Lieblingsalben im vergangenen Jahr veröffentlicht hatte. Ich vermute die Tracks der neuen, nur digital veröffentlichten EP stammen aus den Sessions zu diesem Album. Dazu sind sie eine willkommene Ergänzung.

In this episode, the focus is once again on soul. We start with a round of Southern Soul, songs that were released on vinyl for the first time on the Soul 4 Real label. The latest release from Geater Davis is a real highlight!
The first new album I would like to present is “Reasons To Stay” by Tanika Charles. It is already the Canadian’s fourth album and also her most personal. The songs sound like very personal letters to her family, herself and also to her listeners. A very moving album, that’s how soul should be!
The Principles Of Joy from Paris have become a permanent fixture on the European soul scene in recent years. They owe this not least to their dynamic live concerts. Now they have recorded a live album with an audience at Studio CVXII in Paris that perfectly captures this magic. It has become a very good album that I would like to recommend to you!

The soul sounds are then enriched with psychedelic sounds from the Middle East and Caribbean sounds. Another highlight is the “Tigre Bonus EP” by El Gato Negro, who released one of my favorite albums last year with “Le Tigre Qui Pleure”. I suspect that the tracks on the new EP, which is only being released digitally, are from the sessions for this album. They are a welcome addition.
