Adrian Quesada hat mit den Echocentrics ein starkes und abwechslungsreiches Debütalbum vorgelegt. In dieser Soul Unlimited Ausgabe wird es ausführlich vorgestellt. Je öfter man dieses gelungene Album hört, desto mehr entdeckt man. Meine Empfehlung für die Platte der Woche!
Darüber hinaus gibt es noch eine Reihe weiterer sehr interessanter Neuerscheinungen. Insbesondere das Debüt-Album des französichen Beat-Makers Raashan Ahmad, welches zum einen in der klassischen Hip-Hop Tradition verwurzelt ist und andererseits auch Einflüsse aus Jazz, Soul und Funk verarbeitet. Wirklich sehr Gut!
Die Stepkids sind ein neues Projekt beim Label Stones Throw, das mit einer tollen Debüt-12″ am Start ist: „Shadows On Behalf“. Auch Freestyle Records sind mit einem weiteren Debüt-Album dabei, welches von Frootful kommt. Dahinter steckt der Musiker und Grafiker Nick Radford. Produziert wurde das Album von Lack Of Afro.
Zum Schluss gibt es noch eine satte Portion exzellenter Disco- und Boogie-Tunes: Al Kent hat die zweite Folge seiner Compilation-Reihe „Disco Love“ fertiggestellt und die ist wieder sehr gut geworden. Musik die Spaß macht und zum Tanzen animiert. So kann man den Alltagsstress auf höchsten musikalischen Niveau hinter sich lassen.
John Morales war ein Pionier auf dem Gebiet des Re-Edits. Seine M+M Disco-Mixe waren in den 80er Jahren wegweisend. Auf dem Label BBE ist nun eine zweite Zusammenstellung seiner besten Arbeiten erschienen. Absulut essentiell!
