Wir tauchen ein in die bunte musikalische Welt von Soul, Funk und Jazz.
Zum Auftakt gibt es eine kleine Runde mit aktuellen Soul Produktionen und danach geht es mit der ersten Neuvorstellung weiter, einem Doppel-Release mit zwei hochinteressanten Compilation-Alben voller obskurer Hammond B3 Organ Grooves. Es ist erstaunlich wie viele musikalischen Perlen das Kollektiv vom Label Perfect Toy Records hier ausgegraben hat. Diese sind allesamt ziemlich spannend und grooven mächtig. Daher kann ich diese beiden Alben absolut empfehlen.
Vom Hammond Organ Boogaloo machen wir einen Shift in Richtung Ethio-Jazz und psychedelischen Funk und kommen zu einem der Highlights unter den neuen Veröffentlichungen. Das Debüt-Album „Return To The Spirit“ von Sun Atlas. Die Band gibt sich sehr geheimnisvoll und tritt nur maskiert in fantasievoll bunten Kostümen auf. Die Musik der Band ist eine interessante Mischung aus psychedelischen Space-Funk Sounds mit Ethio-Jazz und Afrobeat Elementen. Ein großartiges Debüt, das mich auf Anhieb begeistert hat!
Das G.E.D. Soul Label ist seit einiger Zeit wieder aktiv und veröffentlicht superbe neue 45er Singles. Das neuste Werk kommt von Devando und ist ein unwiderstehlich groovender Boogie-Funk Track. Hinter dem Alias Devando verbirgt sich Nick DeVan, der zusammen mit Nick Singleton das G.E.D. Soul Label gegründet hat.
Bei BBE (Barley Breaking Even) ist vor kurzem ein exzellenter Remix von Roy Ayers‘ Song „What’s The T?“ erschienen, der vom Berliner Produzenten Delfonic angefertigt wurde. Leider gibt es den Remix bislang nur digital. Das Label BBE veröffentlicht demnächst auch die Compilation „Trunk Of Funk Vol.3“ von Craig Charles, auf der ein bislang unveröffentlichter Song von Say She She erscheinen wird. In dieser Sendung könnt ihr ihn vorab hören. Auch von Sababa 5 gibt es schon vorab einen neuen Song zu hören und zwar „Kokoro“ das Titelstück ihres im Juli erscheinenden Albums mit der japanischen Sängerin Yurika. Ein Album auf das man sich definitiv freuen kann!
Die amerikanische Band Brainstory hat aktuell ihr zweites Album „Sounds Good“ veröffentlicht. Der Titel ist passt haargenau. Ein hervorragendes Album und man kann hören wie sehr sich die Band positiv weiterentwickelt hat.
Neues gibt es auch von K.O.G., der aktuell den Song „Live For Today“ vorab veröffentlicht hat um sein neues Album anzukündigen, das im September erscheinen wird. Darauf bin schon sehr gespannt!
Der Höhepunkt der Sendung ist das Album der Woche und dies kommt zum Schluss: Es ist „Find Your Flame“ von Nubiyan Twist. Die neunköpfige Band verknüpft auf gekonnt geniale Weise globale Grooves mit Soul und Jazz zu einer spannenden Melange, die noch um elektronische Elemente und satte Bläsersätze ergänzt wird. Die Band hat zudem noch eine Reihe anderer Künstler*Innen eingeladen, die ebenfalls auf dem Album zu hören sind: Nile Rodgers, Seun Kuti und K.O.G. sind die bekanntesten unter den Gästen. So ist es ein rundum gelungenes und sehr abwechslungsreiches Album geworden, das mich absolut begeistert hat! Viel Spaß beim Anhören!

We dive into the colorful musical world of soul, funk and jazz.
We start with a short round of current soul productions and then continue with the first new release, a double release with two highly interesting compilation albums full of obscure Hammond B3 organ grooves. It’s amazing how many musical gems the collective from the Perfect Toy Records label has unearthed here. They are all quite exciting and groove powerfully. That’s why I can absolutely recommend these two albums.
From Hammond organ boogaloo we make a shift towards ethio-jazz and psychedelic funk and come to one of the highlights among the new releases. The debut album „Return To The Spirit“ by Sun Atlas. The band is very mysterious and only performs masked in imaginatively colorful costumes. The band’s music is an interesting mixture of psychedelic space-funk sounds with ethio-jazz and Afrobeat elements. A great debut that impressed me straight away!
The G.E.D. Soul label has been active again for some time now and is releasing great new 45 singles. The latest work comes from Devando and is an irresistibly groovy boogie-funk track. Behind the alias Devando is Nick DeVan, who founded the G.E.D. Soul label together with Nick Singleton.
BBE (Barley Breaking Even) recently released an excellent remix of Roy Ayers‘ song „What’s The T?“, which was created by Berlin producer Delfonic. Unfortunately, the remix is only available digitally so far. The BBE label will soon be releasing the compilation „Trunk Of Funk Vol.3“ by Craig Charles, which will feature a previously unreleased song by Say She She. The American band Brainstory has just released their second album „Sounds Good“. The title is spot on. An excellent album and you can hear how much the band has developed positively.

The nine-piece band skillfully and ingeniously combines global grooves with soul and jazz to create an exciting melange, which is complemented by electronic elements and lush brass sections. The band has also invited a number of other artists who can also be heard on the album: Nile Rodgers, Seun Kuti and K.O.G. are the best known among the guests. The result is an all-round successful and very varied album that I absolutely loved! Have fun listening to it!
