It’s Soul Time!
Es ist wieder höchste Zeit für eine Episode bei der sich alles um Soul dreht. Vor allem Aufnahmen aus den 1970er Jahren, die jedoch erst vor kurzem wieder veröffentlicht wurden.
Nach dem Einstieg mit ein paar souligen Jazz-Grooves geht es dann weiter famosem 70er Jahre Soul, der vom spanischen Label Soul 4 real erstmalig auf Vinyl veröffentlicht wurde. Die Compilation „Juast To Keep You Satisfied“ versammelt 10 wunderbare Motown – Aufnahmen aus den frühen 70er Jahren. Mit dabei sind Songs von David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, The Fantastic Four und anderen. Die Qualität ist durchgängig erstklassig und dieses Album ist ein weiteres Highlight unter den exquisit gestalteten Veröffentlichungen von Soul 4 Real Records.
Das Debüt-Album „I Can’t Seem To Forget You“ der Band Heaven And Earth ist 1976 erstmalig erschienen und wurde aktuell vom Label P-Vine neu aufgelegt. Die Vocal-Gruppe aus Chicago glänzt mit ihrem Falsett-Harmonie Sound, der sowohl bei langsamen Balladen als auch bei Uptempo-Nummern funktioniert. Sehr schön!
Beim amerikanischen Label Now Again sind Aufnahmen der Band Rapture erschienen. Die Band Rapture wurde 1978 von Rodney Stepps gegründet, nachdem er die Spinners verlassen hatte. Die Aufnahmen für das Debüt-Album „Rapture sind in dieser Zeit entstanden, doch die Band löste sich auf bevor es zur Veröffentlichung der Songs kommen konnte. Es sollte noch bis ins Jahr 2025 dauern bis das Album erscheinen konnte.
Eine gut zusammengestellte Compilation ist wie eine Reise in eine geheimnisvolle Musikwelt. Ein Abenteuer das viele wunderbare Überraschungen zu bieten hat. Ganz besonders trifft dies auf die Compilation „Box Of Delights Vol.1“ zu. Zwölf exquisite und ziemlich rare Songs hat Joaquim Paulo hier ausgesucht. Alle Songs sind wahre Perlen, von denen ich bisher noch nichts gehört habe. Diese Compilation ist ein echter Geheim-Tip!
Der nächste Höhepunkt ist das wiederveröffentlichte Album „Phylliss“ von Phylliss Bailey. Auch dieses Album hat eine gewisse Magie, die einen vom ersten Ton an in den Bann zieht und nicht mehr loslässt. Aufgenommen im Jahr 1978 ist das Album über die Jahre zu einem Kultklassiker in der Modern Soul Szene geworden. Erfreulicherweise gibt es nun eine offizielle Wiederveröffentlichung beim Label Celestial Echo.
Zum Schluss gibt es eine weitere hervorragende Compilation und es ist schon die dritte Folge in der Reihe „With Love“. Für die hervorragende Zusammenstellung zeichnet sich DJ Miche verantwortlich und auch diese Folge wird den Erwartungen an diese hochgelobte Compilation-Reihe gerecht. Superb!

It’s Soul Time!
It’s high time for another episode dedicated entirely to soul music. Most of the tracks are from the 1970s, but have only recently been re-released.
After kicking things off with a few soulful jazz grooves, we move on to some fabulous 70s soul, released on vinyl for the first time by Spanish label Soul 4 Real. The compilation “Just To Keep You Satisfied” brings together 10 wonderful Motown recordings from the early 70s. It includes songs by David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, The Fantastic Four, and others. The quality is consistently top-notch, and this album is another highlight among the exquisitely designed releases from Soul 4 Real Records.
The debut album “I Can’t Seem To Forget You” by the band Heaven And Earth was first released in 1976 and has now been reissued by the label P-Vine. The vocal group from Chicago shines with their falsetto harmony sound, which works equally well on slow ballads and uptempo numbers. Very nice!
The American label Now Again has released recordings by the band Rapture. Rapture was founded in 1978 by Rodney Stepps after he left The Spinners. The recordings for the debut album “Rapture” were made during this period, but the band broke up before the songs could be released. It would take until 2025 for the album to be released.
A well-compiled compilation is like a journey into a mysterious world of music. An adventure that has many wonderful surprises to offer. This is especially true of the compilation “Box Of Delights Vol.1.” Joaquim Paulo has selected twelve exquisite and rather rare songs here. All of the songs are true gems that I have never heard before. This compilation is a real insider tip!
The next highlight is the re-released album “Phylliss” by Phylliss Bailey. This album also has a certain magic that captivates you from the very first note and never lets go. Recorded in 1978, the album has become a cult classic in the modern soul scene over the years. Fortunately, there is now an official re-release on the Celestial Echo label.
Finally, there is another excellent compilation, the third installment in the “With Love” series. DJ Miche is responsible for the outstanding compilation, and this installment also lives up to the expectations of this highly acclaimed compilation series. Superb!
