Entspannte Jazzklänge zu Beginn, unter anderem mit einer sehr schönen Vocal-Jazz Platte auf Sonorama: „Jula in Jazz“ mit Aufnahmen von der Sängerin Jula de Palma, die in den Jahren 1958/1959, sowie in den frühen 60ern entstanden sind.
Danach kommt der Soul ins Spiel. Mayer Hawthorne hat mit „Impressions“ ein MP3-Album voller Cover-Versionen ausgesuchter Soul-Perlen veröffentlicht, das es bei Stones Throw Records als freien Download gibt. Das sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen!
Neues gibt es auch von Azymuth, der legendären brasilianischen Jazz-Funk Band, die schon seit 1972 aktiv ist. Mit „Aurora“ kehren sie zu ihrem klassischen Sound zurück, der an ihre besten Aufnahmen aus den 70ern erinnert.
Die Platte der Woche ist dieses Mal eine Compilation, die von DJ Andy Smith zusammengestellt wurde: „Jam Up Twist“ ist eine abwechslungsreiche und absolut Party-taugliche Mischung aus Northern Soul, Ska, Jump Blues und Rock-a-Billy. Definitiv erstllassig!
