A global grooves adventure !
Wir begeben uns auf eine musikalische Reise rund um den Globus, die musikalische Einflüsse aus unterschiedlichen Regionen der Welt transkontinental verbindet. Der Groove von Funk und der Soul sind die verbindenden Elemente.
Das neue Album von El Gato Negro ist das erste Schwerpunkt-Thema das dies perfekt wiederspiegelt. Auf seinem neuen Album „Tigre Qui Pleure“ hören wir Songs in denen die zahlreichen musikalischen Eindrücke verwoben sind, die Axel aka El Gato Negro auf seinen Reisen in seinen beiden Herzenskontinenten Afrika und Lateinamerika gesammelt hat. Das Album hat er zusammen mit Guts produziert, der mit ihm sein Faible für Afrikanische und Lateinamreikanische Musik teilt. Guts Können an den Produktionsreglern hat die Songs des Albums auf perfekte Weise veredelt. Ein super interessantes und spannendes Album!
Nächste Station auf unserer musikalischen Reise ist das neue Album der Pariser Band Cotonete, bei der auch Florian Pellissier am Piano und an den Keyboards involviert ist. Beim neuen Album „Victoire De La Musique“ hat die Band ihren Brasil-Jazz-Funk Sounds verfeinert und auf ein neues Level gehoben. Einige mit Bedacht ausgewählte Gast-Sänger*Innen tragen dazu ebenfalls bei, ebenso wie die herverragenden Produktionsskills von Guts, der dieses Album produziert hat. Das bisher beste Album der Band!
Der musikalische Höhepunkt unserer Reise ist das neue, inzwischen dritte Album der holländischen Band Yin Yin. Auf „Mount Matsu“ ist die Band ihrem typischen Sound treu geblieben und das ist gut so. Diese einzigartige Mischung aus psychedelisch angehauchtem Global-Funk mit einem unwiderstehlichen Groove und südostasiatischer Soundästhetik verlangt nach mehr. Eine Platte die seit ihrem Release bei mir in heavy Rotation läuft. Großartig!
Um die musikalische Reise abzurunden trifft es sich ganz gut, dass ich die bereits in 2022 erschienene Compilation „Sharayet El Disco“ noch gar nicht vorgestellt habe. Die Compilation wurde von Moataz Rageb aka Disco Arabesquo zusammengestellt und darauf sind ziemlich erstaunliche Disco & Boogie Tracks zu hören. Diese sind hauptsächlich in den 80er Jahren in Ägypten entstanden und wurden damals fast ausschließlich nur auf Cassette veröffentlicht. Das Album ist absolut hörenswert. Viel Spaß beim Anhören!

A global grooves adventure !
We embark on a musical journey around the globe that transcontinentally combines musical influences from different regions of the world. The groove of funk and soul are the connecting elements.
El Gato Negro’s new album is the first focus theme that perfectly reflects this. On his new album „Tigre Qui Pleure“, we hear songs that interweave the numerous musical impressions that Axel aka El Gato Negro has gathered on his travels in the two continents close to his heart, Africa and Latin America. He produced the album together with Guts, who shares his penchant for African and Latin American music. Guts‘ skill at the production controls has refined the songs on the album to perfection. A super interesting and exciting album!
The next stop on our musical journey is the new album by the Parisian band Cotonete, which also features Florian Pellissier on piano and keyboards. The musical highlight of our trip is the new, now third album by Dutch band Yin Yin. On „Mount Matsu“, the band has remained true to its typical sound and that’s a good thing. This unique blend of psychedelic-tinged global funk with an irresistible groove and Southeast Asian sound aesthetics demands more. A record that has been on heavy rotation since its release. Great!
To round off the musical journey, it’s a good thing that I haven’t yet presented the compilation „Sharayet El Disco“, which was released in 2022. The compilation was put together by Moataz Rageb aka Disco Arabesquo and features some pretty amazing disco & boogie tracks. These were mainly created in Egypt in the 80s and were almost exclusively released on cassette back then. The album is absolutely worth listening to. Have fun listening to it!
