From Soul to Disco & Boogie
In der ersten Stunde gibt es klassischen und raren Soul zu hören. Dabei stehen Veröffentlichungen des spanischen Labels Soul 4 Real Records im Mittelpunkt. Das Label ist aus dem im Jahr 2000 in Bilbao gegründeten Soul Weekender „Soul 4 Real“ hervorgegangen. Der Soul Weekender hat bis 2023 in insgesamt 28 Ausgaben den klassischen und raren Soul aus der goldenen Ära der 60er und 70er Jahre gefeiert und viele legendäre Künstler und DJs als Gäste gehabt. Im Jahr 2014 wurde zusätzlich das Label „Soul 4 Real Records“ gegründet. Dabei hat sich das Label zum Ziel gesetzt vor allem zuvor oder ursprünglich unveröffentlichte Soul Musik zum ersten Mal auf Vinyl 7″ Singles oder LPs zu veröffentlichen. Inzwischen kann das Label eine stattliche Anzahl an Single-Releases vorweisen und auch einige Vinyl-Alben, vorwiegend Compilations, sind ebenfalls dabei. Aus diesen Compilations, die allesamt großartig sind, gibt es im ersten Teil der Sendung eine exquisite Auswahl an Songs zu hören.
Im zweiten Teil geht es dann weiter in Richtung Modern Soul, Disco & Boogie. Zuerst gibt es einige Singles im Mix und außerdem sind auch zwei bemerkenswerte Album Veröffentlichungen dabei.
Die erste Album-Veröffentlichung, die im Fokus steht, ist das Debüt der Band „Another Taste“ aus Rotterdam. Die Band hat schon zuvor mit einer Reihe schnell vergriffener Singles von sich reden gemacht. Ihr Auftritt beim Worldwide Festival 2023 in Sète war Berichten zufolge eines der Überraschungs-Highlights des Festivals. Das Debüt-Album der Band wurde daher mit großer Spannung erwartet und es überzeugt auf ganzer Linie. Hier wird der GI-Disco und der Brit-Funk Sound der 80er Jahre gekonnt in die Gegenwart transferiert. Die Songs haben Soul, grooven und sind zwingend tanzbar. Was will man mehr? Das Album der Woche!
Ziemlich spannend ist auch das neue Album von Donnell Pitman & Wings Of Sunshine. Auf „Brand New Funk“ zelebrieren sie Boogie Sound in Bestform. Ein Album das man gerne und oft hört, mit Songs die auch auf dem Dancefloor perfekt funktionieren!

From Soul to Disco & Boogie
The first hour features classic and rare soul. The focus is on releases from the Spanish label Soul 4 Real Records. The label emerged from the soul weekender „Soul 4 Real“, which was founded in Bilbao in 2000. Until 2023, the Soul Weekender celebrated classic and rare soul from the golden era of the 60s and 70s in a total of 28 editions and had many legendary artists and DJs as guests. In 2014, the label „Soul 4 Real Records“ was also founded. The label has set itself the goal of releasing previously or originally unreleased soul music for the first time on vinyl LPs or 7″ singles. The label can now boast a considerable number of single releases and also some vinyl albums, mainly compilations. The first part of the show features an exquisite selection of songs from these compilations, all of which are great.
In the second part, we move on to modern soul, disco and boogie. First there are some singles in the mix and also two remarkable album releases.
The first album release in focus is the debut of the band „Another Taste“ from Rotterdam. The band has already made a name for itself with a series of singles that sold out quickly. Their performance at the Worldwide Festival 2023 in Sète was reportedly one of the surprise highlights of the festival. The band’s debut album was therefore eagerly awaited and it delivers across the board. The GI disco or Brit funk sound of the 80s is skillfully transferred into the present. The songs have soul, groove and are absolutely danceable. What more could you want? The album of the week!
The new album by Donnell Pitman & Wings Of Sunshine is also pretty exciting. On „Brand New Funk“ they celebrate boogie sound at its best. An album that you will enjoy listening to often, with songs that also work perfectly on the dancefloor!
